At St Hilda’s, we are committed to creating learning environments that are safe and focused. As part of this commitment, the School is introducing LANschool, a digital classroom management tool designed to support teaching and learning during school hours.

LANschool allows teachers to guide and support student device use during lessons. Its purpose is to help students remain focused on learning tasks and reduce digital distractions. The software enables staff to monitor and, where appropriate, restrict student activity on their laptops. It will be available to teachers from year groups 6 - 12.

How LANschool is used

  • LANschool operates only when students are on campus and connected to the school network.

  • It is active only during school hours (8:25 am – 3:25 pm).

  • Timetabled teachers may use LANschool to view student screens, guide student activity, or temporarily restrict access to non-learning activities during class time.

  • LANschool is not active after school hours, on weekends, or off campus.

Privacy and respectful use

LANschool is used strictly for educational purposes and classroom management, not for continuous or covert surveillance. Staff are expected to use the tool professionally, transparently, and in alignment with school policies and our values of trust, respect, and care.

Students will not be monitored outside of school hours, and LANschool does not access personal files, personal accounts, or activity outside the school network.

LANschool is one of several tools that help support positive digital habits. We continue to encourage students to develop self-regulation, digital responsibility, and ethical technology use.
